Frequently Asked Questions About Chiropractic Care
Insurance, your first visit, what we treat, and who we care for. If your question isn't here, call us at (908) 638-4144 — we're happy to help.
Getting Started
Do you accept new patients?
Yes. We welcome new patients across Hunterdon County and Warren County. Call (908) 638-4144 to schedule.
Is there a new patient offer?
Yes. We offer a complimentary, no-obligation consultation to determine whether chiropractic care is right for you. We'll talk through what's been going on, examine you if appropriate, and tell you honestly whether we can help — and if we can't, we'll tell you that too.
Do I need a referral?
In most cases, no. Most insurance plans allow direct access to chiropractic care without a physician referral. Some plans require referrals — call us with your insurance information and we'll verify.
Where are you located?
10 Anderson Road, Clinton, NJ 08809. We serve all of Hunterdon County and Warren County east to Washington. See our service area.
Insurance & Billing
What insurance do you accept?
We accept all insurance carriers. We're in-network with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey and Medicare. For other carriers, we'll bill on your behalf as an out-of-network provider — most patients with out-of-network chiropractic coverage are fully or partially reimbursed. Call us at (908) 638-4144 with your plan information before your visit and we'll verify your benefits. More on our insurance page.
Do you take Medicare?
Yes. We're a participating Medicare provider and bill Medicare directly. Most of our Medicare patients carry a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan that covers what Original Medicare doesn't — meaning the majority of our senior patients pay nothing out of pocket at the visit. We'll verify your specific coverage before your first appointment.
Do you accept patients who have been in a car accident?
Yes. We have over 46 years of experience treating patients after auto accidents. Call us at (908) 638-4144 with your accident date and insurance details and we'll discuss the appropriate billing arrangement. See Auto Accident Care.
Do you direct-bill PIP?
We do not direct-bill your auto carrier. Care is billed to you or to your health insurance, coordinated as primary or secondary coverage. Call us with your situation and we'll explain exactly how the billing will work.
Your Visit
How many visits will I need?
It depends on your condition. Acute conditions typically resolve in 8-16 visits over 4-8 weeks. Chronic or complex conditions may require 16-30 visits over 8-16 weeks. The doctor will discuss your specific care plan after the initial evaluation.
Do you do X-rays on-site?
Yes. We have digital X-ray on-site, read in-room by your chiropractor the same day. Most patients who need imaging have their X-rays taken, reviewed, and incorporated into their treatment plan in a single visit.
What's the difference between chiropractic adjustment and Cox decompression?
Chiropractic adjustment is targeted manual force applied to specific joints to restore proper motion. Cox decompression uses a specialized table to gently stretch and decompress the spine — particularly effective for disc-related conditions like herniated discs, sciatica, and spinal stenosis. Many patients receive both during their care.
Who We Treat
What conditions do you treat?
Back pain, neck pain, sciatica, herniated discs, headaches and migraines, whiplash, sports injuries, auto accident injuries, and a range of other musculoskeletal conditions. See our Conditions page for detail.
Do you treat children and infants?
Yes. Dr. John has been adjusting children for 45 years, including patients under one year of age. Dr. Hilary also adjusts babies. We use age-appropriate, gentle techniques calibrated to the patient.
Do you treat pregnant patients?
Yes. Dr. John is certified in Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT), which is well-suited to the sacroiliac joint issues common during pregnancy. Dr. Hilary uses SOT and side-lying Cox Technic for her prenatal patients and received chiropractic care from Dr. John and Dr. Zak throughout both of her own pregnancies.
